Post subject: idea/question for decompiler/code editor
|

is there any programs out there that let you edit a VB code after its been compiled, like resource hacker, and if there isnt, could someone add that option onto their program?

I do not think anyone has developed something that is capable of that and released it to the public...
But i think the better route would be to recompile the application based on the source code output of a decompiler. _________________ -MrU

Yes, it's either VBReformer or VBEditor, I forget which. It allows you to edit various things like texts and colors (I think), directly within the exe file.

I do not think that VBReformer can edit code, only forms. I may be wrong. i think it would be much more difficult and perhaps unstable to edit the "code" without recompiling the target application. _________________ -MrU

I believe it handles properties of controls, ie "resources", which is what I thought the intent of the question was (thus my example suggested text, etc). But you are right, not the code itself.

Yeh....I can see how it could be done. After all, a lot of patching is actually this same process, only done manually. Of course, there would be limitations, like code length, and stack usage, etc, etc. Maybe a project is being born!!
