Post subject: Is it really a Decompiler?
|
|
i saw many vb decompilers like semi , rezq , reformer...
the question is what do we get after decompilation?
[:37355gg8]Begin VB.CommandButton bAction
Caption = "&Cancel"
Index = 1
Left = 2625
Top = 4350
Width = 1515
Height = 435
TabIndex = 1
End
[/:37355gg8]
these decompilations give the properties of forms/buttons/images!
WHERE IS THE SOURCE CODE?
we better rename it to -------> form/buttons properties reminder!!!
take a look on other decompilers , like delphi dec. and Java dec.
you can get the full source code.
and VB is nothing when we compare it to Java or Delphi.
WHY Cant We Get The Full Source Code Of VB app`s?

Some of us can.
>VB is nothing when we compare it to Java or Delphi.
I'm not at all familiar with Delphi, but I am recently acquainted with Java and some of its decompilers and I can tell you that it is much more of an accomplishment to successfully decompile VB5/6 PCode than Java.
In fact there is only one successful VB5/6 PCode decompiler and that is golems_Folly. And as good as golems_Folly may be, in comparison to all of the other 'decompilers', it is only certified up thru level 4 complexity programs, for reasons that are all too tedious and boring to all but the most select of decompiler writers... Which, in English, translates to golems_Folly is able to fully recover source code for every VB5/6 PCode executable, but due to it's current limitations/inadequacies in dealing with certain complex flow control schemes, unreferenced UDT entity elements, and expression reductions of hypercomplex assignment statements (local scope only ), is NOT able to always generate 100% recompilable source code.
Further, the author, undeniable genius that he is, when he realized that he was all alone on that island and that he would probably not receive the blind adulation that he so desperately needed, not to mention be followed everywhere he went by throngs of admirers (shouting: 'We are NOT worthy! We are NOT worthy!') thus generating the raw mental energy he absolutely had to have to sustain his quest for the perfect VB5/6 PCode decompiler, his interest drifted and he went on to other things...
I guess that might explain 'WHY Cant We Get The Full Source Code Of VB app`s?'.
