Yo Mr Unleaded!

Are you inclined to provide space/publish some of the work product, tutorials, how-tos related to golems_Folly?

After Fravia and his goons suppressed it/ran it off of the net, it would seem enough time has passed that we can let it be known that:

- YES a VB5/VB6 PCode decompiler, fostered by this group, does exist and has existed for years! (Hey you dumbass 'experts'! )
- Sufficient time has passed that releasing the RE pieces I thought were so glaringly obvious and guarded so jealously, but based on an absolute lack of decompiling of VB5/6 PCode results, I guess wasn't SO obvious, that the impact/piracy implications should be minimized. (Time has essentially passed by VB5/6 ).
- It was a classical piece of REing, based on the substantial work of others, and as it sometimes happens, might be of use to...

And?

I agree.

>Yo Mr Unleaded!
Should I have said AND/OR anyone with a REAL interest in VB5/6 decompiling. Don't be shy boys!

>I wonder how many are going to read this message by the subject though.
Really? Hmmm... I don't get it. Besides it's an inside joke... cubed (as in to the third power ).

I've lost track of how many times/or MBs I have posted sample output from golems_Folly (or point out the deficiencies of the published 'VB structures'). Say! Wasn't the last sample a 100% fully recompilable/recompiled Level 1 difficulty VB5 project?

Hmmm... Maybe actual recovered source code is OT. Or maybe a better analogy would be a UFO buzzing a SETI listening post!

Oh well... Hey, I tried!

golems_Folly. The truth is out there... somewhere.

(BTW gamer, you are on the right track ).

*Raises hand has a big interest in vb decompiling basically one of the main things that I do lately.
I could give you a mirror to store information but I would prefer that most of the information be kept on this site, so everyone can find it easily.

You have posted sample outputs of golems_Folly darn I never had the chance to see any of them. Gives me ideas on how to improve things or a goal to reach heh.

Glad I am doing something right! Been talking to DoDi more lately, giving me some advice and ideas. I try to do a little in all versions of VB main working on .Net trying to make a basic IL disassembler, which is going to take while, right now basicly I can parse the metadata information for guids, blobs, user strings, strings, and I know what tables are present.

Keep me posted Golem.

Are you sure Serge? And I was SO certain that my views about extraterrestials being able to watch Nascar on FOX in distant galaxies was shared by precious few...

Was there a secret offer embedded in your post to:

>provide space/publish some of the work product, tutorials,
>how-tos related to golems_Folly?

I just can't seem to break your 'contribution'... Oh! I KNOW! You're really talking about variable ranges and how they apply to scope (both global AND modular)? No...

No room for golems_Folly, eh Serge? I more than understand...

Just look at any of Dodi's VB decompiler tools. IMO, that is the standard for presentation, etc.

Which is why the sample programs were not really that big a deal, in terms of looking at them. It just looked like source code (1 form, 1 module, 1 VBP file). It is exactly the same type of output as some of Dodis programs that drive the decompilation/recovery process from a Mak/VBP file.

The truth is it takes 2 to understand...

One to talk about/publish the result, a second to recognize it.

Anyhow, that represented a Level 1 recovery. golems_Folly functions flawlessly up thru Level 4.

That's awesome. I am a student of his... though he doesn't know me.

> working on .Net
Have you looked at some of the other IL disassemblers, etc. Some are fairly complete (with source code). A guy could probably save himself lots of times, not to mention get a lot of good ideas.

Mind overloading attempting translate Golems post to vbgamer English! Must understand some how...

Secret Offer! I have to use up my 2TB of data transfer each month some how!

For .net I have looked at several projects out there, but mostly information that I obtained was from Inside Microsoft .Net IL Assembler

I'm not too sure how:

"As a "PS": some of us DO recognize that , paraphrased though it may be! "

translates to :

"No room for golems_Folly, eh Serge?"

However, I myself am standing on the shoulders of giants, so I probably have my head too high up in the clouds!

Golem, You have always been free to post what you would like. If you would like to post a link...then post a link if you would like to post a file... go ahead and "attach" a file to your post but let it be in one of the "registered only" forums. this way people at least have to go through some hoops to use up this sites bandwidth.

Also....you may have posted source code from your app here...but I think you would have been much more respected at least by me if you posted source from one of the "Common App" programs. Anyways i am off to some other endevours.
