If a message is in my "OutBox", has it been sent but not yet read by receiver?

I still find it a little confusing, that in each of Inbox, SentBox and OutBox, there is the same button labelled "New Post" - but its exact meaning is unclear... what does it do in each case ...

And what is the difference between SentBox and OutBox?

The FAQ does not have a general "How PM's work" entry

This is my only issue with the current (and otherwise excellent) interface!

"New Post" button is only for sending new private messages, it doesn't matter were you are.

SentBox saves messages you sent; OutBox and SaveBox so far I think they have the same function, like saving drafts.

I will try to give you more info, when I get it.

Thank you! So "New Post" is like Yahoo "Compose", that's fine..

"OutBox" usually implies mail that has been scheduled for sending but has not actually been sent (MS Outlook I think works like that)

Which is why I am still wondering whether the message I have in my OutBox has been sent, I have had no reply but that could be for other reasons

I'm not even sure how my original message came to be put there, instead of the SentBox ... it was Friday evening, when the site was being upgraded, coincidentally ..... so I still have this niggling doubt ...

With any luck Libor will visit soon and I'll know whether he got it or not, I suppose!

He just turned up, was away over the weekend, missed my last mail...

But I've learned what "New Post" means, all is progress ....

Inbox - Messages others sent to you
Sentbox - Messages that you sent to others and they readed (teoricaly)
Outbox - Messages that you sent to others and not yet readed
Savebox - Drafts
