Hey there!

Am looking for a FREE web space provider to setup a website/forum for some friends. I only have a few requirements...

1) 100% free
2) No ads.
3) PHP support (want to use same phpBB soft as here )

Is THAT all?

Does such a thing actually exist anymore?

Carry on!

You can try something like
yandex.ru
narod.ru
boom.ru
They are at least free. And I've seen something like a forum at one of them...

Good luck

Maybe there is a Santa Claus after all, Golem!

Or should that be Sankt Nikolai?

What's interesting?
Well, a little offtopic: where to ask some dummy questions about VB. I've got some skills in REing, but never reversed VB progs.
Digging into native-code compiled projects for a couple of weeks, I've got some ideas about msvbvm60.dll exports/calling conventions, Object's/control's jumprtable arrays/FP works etc. I'd prefer to read and learn a little before to write.
Finally, the question is: where can someone, who actually novice in VB (like me), ask his/her questions.

Well, it depends on what the question is about. Pretty much just try to match your question with the topic. Only thing....try to keep "questions" out of the stickys in the structures section. If you want to "add" something then feel free to suggest it on the correlating sticky. Anyways, you got lots of reading to do

Did I mistake this 'Useless Answers' for the 'Answers Actually Amounting to Something' forum? My mistake.

(Come on boys... It's for a good cause. ).

It's for these guys...

hp3000.empireclassic.com

The used to have a great MB that one day just fell into a black hole... Leaving a rather large hole in the fabric of these gamers community.

about people tripping all over their own feet wanting to enslave themselves...

I actually found some 100% free web hosts (with free domain name .

Sure it's a monstrous hassle, but some of us are just obsessed with the Internet being free.

You some type of 'provider'?

Alas, down to details...

What are the requirements for the phpBB vis-a-vis db support? (Is it only MySQL?). Any other gotchas you want to share?

Ancient? No, , I think it's older than that.

yea a lot of thing should be free. i could offer free service that only available 12 hours a day and it may get hacked and i dont do backups....

or you could pay for some cheap web hosting hehe.

but really i do agree the Internet should be free. Firefox is a good example of that. Mozilla is a NPO and they are accepting donations to promote an ad of firefox on the new york times.

but anyways i have "provided" for this forum for a couple years now...and its still here.

whats vis-a-vis?

phpBB i think requires php/mysql if thats what you are asking.

French (of course . An idiom sorta like 'with regards to'... Though it literally means 'face to face'.

It's amazing how many seemingly psychic people seem to ply these waters.

Start to get geared up to replace the MB, and suddenly... MB is back! Well... sorta. In a limp kind of fashion.

Are you the proprietor of 'Automaters'? Or kinda like some intermediate level enterpreneur? How do you get started in this line of business? (Or is it more like WHAT possessed you to get into this line of business? )

You're kidding, right? Like you've never heard of high density automated dat backup systems or mirrored drive arrays.

Even though these wimp boys seem to have returned from the grave, I will probably forge ahead...

Those boys sorta have a tyrannical streak. ( Sign of the times! )

intermediate level? maybe more like low-level.... i had a couple sites i wanted...and its cheaper to be a reseller and put up three sites as a reseller then it is to put up 3 individual accounts....

anyways...i dont make any money really...but i do make a little from the google ads on this site....so it works out.

lol....well the raid drive array part is easy windows 2000/3 supports it natively...software based of course....but the tape system cost money. in the long run you cant do without it....

we just bought an autoloader/tape drive at work....it can store 1.6 TB of data.....yes terabytes... each tape can hold 100-200 GB....Ultrium LTOs they are called.

we have an old DAT system...20 to 40gb backups....

but then what about backup software? ntbackup sucks....so we use veritas....but veritas is so bloated....we cant even get the autoloader to work with it....go figure....maybe we will have better luck tomorrow.

the 12 hour a day thing.....thats my computer that is hosting some private web pages only a couple people know about working on something special that i will show you all soon.

anyways gnight
